This indicator is calculated by dividing the number of reported incidences of violent crimes by the population. We multiply the result by 10,000. Violent crimes include murders and non-negligent manslaughter, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. In counties with relatively few people, a small change in the number of violent crimes reported may have a significant effect on rates from year to year. (See the note about data comparability below.)
- The rate in 2015 was 22 per 10,000 population, compared to 22 per 10,000 in Idaho.
Not all states and counties have data for all years.
