This indicator is calculated by dividing the number of primary care physicians by the total population. We multiply the result by 10,000.

In counties with relatively few people, a small change in the number of primary care physicians may have a significant effect on rates from year to year.

In Idaho in 2020. . .

  • There were 6.3 primary care physicians per 10,000 population, compared to 7.6 per 10,000 in the U.S.
  • There were 1,172 primary care physicians in Idaho compared to 1,088 in 2016.
